He is Risen!

Yesterday was tons of fun. We invited a group of about 12 people over to our apartment for dinner and to watch the Passion of the Christ (CLICK HERE FOR PICTURES). A few of our friends had been asking about what Christianity was all about so we figured that since this is Easter Week that we should show the Passion of the Christ.

Everyone had a great time and we got to meet Xinlei's little son and her mom for the first time. They are very nice people as well as everyone else that came. I must say from my perspective it was some of the best food I have ever eaten as well. We asked everyone to bring something small and then we all would share and enjoy what each person brought. It turned out to be a sort of mini-multicultural food night.

Afterwards we all talked about the relevance of the Passion of the Christ for all of us today and why Lindsey and I believe in Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Hopefully everyone understood and had a great time learning about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. -Brad-

At the Lake

Last week was such a nice week (especially since we got to go to the lake and relax and get all the work done that we needed to). This week has been a bit hectic. Lindsey started her another class that she is taking on Monday. My co-teacher Jim began teaching the second half of the Basic Greek course that we are teaching at the Center for Biblical Studies at DTS.

This week we are really excited about the upcoming events this weekend. It really is probably the most important time of the year for us as Christians. This week we remember Jesus' death and resurrection which is crucial to our Christian faith. I personally believe that every Christian should watch the Passion of the Christ (which should be called "The Passion of Jesus Christ") but I digress. If you don't consider yourself a Christian I urge you to watch this movie or go to our homepage and click on the link for the four spiritual laws. For those of you who are Christians, I urge you as well to do both of these things as they will challenge you as well in your walk with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. -Brad-

ETS

This past Thursday Lindsey and I (along with our friend Greg) went to New Orleans for the Southwestern Region's Conference of the Evangelical Theological Society (ETS). We got to hang out with Heidi (a friend of mine from Davidson) and her boyfriend Justin. Heidi let us stay at her apartment while we were there so that made it a lot less expensive but also much more fun because we got to spend some time with them.

While there we ate Gumbo and some other Cajun foods (although I couldn't stomach the thought of eating raw oysters, so we decided to stay away from that delicacy). We also enjoyed seeing New Orleans. It really is a beautiful city with trees and grass everywhere. I know that sounds weird but there just isn't much nature in Dallas. Getting used to the NO LEFT TURN signs everywhere was little difficult but at least we got practice doing U-turns everywhere.

There was a debate at the conference where they brought in a man named Dominick Crossan (who denies the literal bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ) and another named N.T. Wright (who argues for the bodily resurrection of Jesus). Their discussions really challenged me to think through many of the things that I normally take for granted and gave me a fresh perspective on how to articulate my belief in the bodily resurrection of Jesus.

This week Linds is going to be working in the Admissions office full time and I'm doing some reading and preparing for school and Mexico. We hope to go to the lake this weekend to get away and spend some time together! -Brad-

Spiritual Formation Retreat

Our friends from DTS just left the lake, after a weekend of fun at our retreat. It was a blast for all of us to start off our break by spending time out at Cedar Creek Lake together--bonding and getting to know more about each other's lives. It was rather overcast most of the weekend, but that didn't stop us from taking some cruises across the lake, golf cart rides, and rounds of football. There was plenty of food and fun for all (traditional Linger Longer style), and was truly a blessing to our group! (Make sure to check out the pictures here.)

The other big highlight of the day was the big Tar Heel win against Duke! When the final buzzer rang Brad was leaping for joy and smacked a big wet one on me. (No doubt he's a Tar Heel born and Tar Heel bred.)

We're looking forward to WEC week (World Evangelism Conference Week) at DTS, where we have a week full of missions sessions and mission organizations coming to share with us. Towards the end of the week, we'll head down to New Orleans for a conference and are looking forward to some more change in scenery (and some good Cajun cookin').
