Classes and Dan

Its that time of year, classes are starting today in about 30 minutes and I must admit that I'm still not ready to start back. Like always Lindsey makes starting anything I'm aprehensive about a little less difficult. She organized a notebook for me for this semester and my computer, boy am I lucky. We're excited about what God has in store for us this semester and seeing how He will work in our lives.

I've told some of you about my friend that has Parkinson's that I help take care of a day or two a week. Here is a picture of him about 3 years ago while he was still working. Dan is a great guy that has taught me more than I could learn in any class. I knew some of these things already but here is a sampling of what we can all learn from him:
-- Smile after all the little victories
-- Humor can make the most difficult situation a fun one
-- Make friends with those around you
How often do we live out these three statements? They are difficult but worth the effort because they bring joy to our lives and to the lives of others.

Our New Apartment

For those of you who don't live in Dallas, here is a picture of Swiss Tower--the apartment building that we live in. It is 20 yards from campus, and it's been great to just roll out of bed and head over there.

One more week....

Well, we have one more week until classes start and we aren't slowing down a bit! We are both working pretty much full-time this week, in addition to meetings, orientation, and appointments that have popped up on our schedules!

We got a chance to head out to the lake with our spiritual formation group from school this weekend, and we had a great time. We just hung-out by the water and inside--just relaxing and enjoying each other's company. Two of the ladies are pregnant, so by the time we all get a chance to go down again together we will have at least one addition to the group!

We'll catch up with you more later!

Blessings

Since we got back from Mexico, we have gotten a lot of time to spend with my family up in North Dallas. Although it is something little, it has been a big blessing to be able to be around to help my family as my mom recovers from her surgery. Brad and I have had a blast just talking with my parents, hanging out and being silly with my brothers, and eating some great food (especially for Brad). My mom's surgery in itself was a HUGE blessing, as they were able to remove all the cancer cells (which otherwise wouldn't have responded to chemo/radiation). Praise God for His sovereignty and grace through everything these past 3 weeks!

Today at church, we got to see some missionaries that we saw when we were in Mexico. Our church supports them, and we had the blessing of being able to see their ministry in action when we were in Puebla.

Last week I started my internship up at our church (Grace Bible Church) with the Children's Department. I am helping the children's director and learning a lot about how to lead and manage programing, volunteers, ministry, missions, etc. I'm extremely excited about my time there, as I have a wonderful person to learn from...she's been in education/ministry her whole working life and comes with a lot of knowledge to impart!

As I jumped back into work, it was great to be around my fellow workers again. Working on campus has been the best opportunity for me to get to know more people on campus, be encouraged by those around me, and be challenged to serve God more with my life and my work. The picture to the side is all the women on my floor at a little luncheon we had. I'm looking forward to another exciting year of helping students come into DTS that truly want to serve the Lord and learn more about His Word.

More to come soon...Lindsey (and Brad)

Back in the Big D (Dallas)

Well we are back in Dallas after a great month in Mexico serving with CAM International. I don't have the time nor the energy right now to write about everything but I will put up some posts soon about some specific things we did there. Lindsey started back to work this week and also her new internship at our church (I'll let her post more about that later). I've been working on Greek and some other stuff we needed to get done along with exercising. I have this weird idea in my head that I want to run a marathon one day but who knows. If my body can take it, I would love to do it.

Today I got a chance to catch up with my good friend Brian at Chick-fil-a. Its so encouraging to talk with him and look at a passage of Scripture together and then pray. I wish I could have those kinds of times more often.

More coming soon! (Especially now that our blog is working again, its been giving us trouble for a couple weeks and we weren't able to post anything new to it. Hopefully those days are over)
