One Proud Uncle

When it comes to nieces and nephews, I think Lindsey and I have the best ones there are. It would be wonderful if they just lived a little closer.

But what is funny is when my brother Sid sends me pictures of Carter (the one in the middle) telling me about how Carter already has a girlfriend. Seems a bit early to me :)

Here are a few pictures of Carter that were sent to Lindsey and I a couple days ago. They grow up so fast and it is going to be tons of fun to babysit them over Christmas while we are in North Carolina. I'm sure they will run us ragged but it will be worth it. In the picture with Carter holding a broom, I bet Sid meant to have the Bank of America football in there for a little extra advertising for the bank. The last picture below is of my brother Sid with Carter.

Barnabas

What nickname would people give you because of your actions? As I was preparing my Sunday School lesson for today this week, I've thought alot about a man named Barnabas. People called him Barnabas because Barnabas meant "son of encouragement". Are you an encouraging person? Am I ?

The Bible gives us numerous commands to encourage and build one another up (1 Thessalonians 5:11, Isaiah 35:3, Ephesians 4:29, Hebrews 10:24-25). Although it sounds really good when we talk about it, how come it is so hard to do in real life? I wish I knew the answer to that question. It is important that we seek ways to build one another up, through kind words, an encouraging note/letter, a call, listening when others are struggling, giving assistance when needed not just when its convenient.

I know that I need to consistently go to God saying, "God please help me to be obedient today when you show me opportunities to encourage others." I find it very easy to get obsorbed in the day to day tasks and forget that others might need a little encouragement. Who in your life needs your encouragement and support? Through very small, simple things we can build up the body of Christ, come together as community, and assist one another in carrying out the great commission in our towns, states, country, and world.

In 10, 30, 50 years will your friends think of the word encouragement when they think of you?

What a Weekend!

Well, we spent the weekend watching/hanging out with my brothers all weekend. My parents decided to go to Boston/Cape Cod with their good buddies--Kent and Beth Davis. Mom and Beth (who are not sisters, but might as well be) are celebrating the big 5-0 this year and decided to celebrate their 50 years of a full and happy life together!

(FYI: My parents are on the right side of each pictures...)

So while the rents were off taking Duck tours, visiting Cheers, and having fun without any of their kids...we got the hang out with my
brothers: Ryan (the fisherman) and Alex.
Between quoting Napoleon and Cool Runnings at

1am in the morning, going to the STARS game, working out at 11pm at Lifetime,
learning about how to change your oil, running around like a "soccer mom" in the Navigator, and educating my brother about evolution...it was a full (and fun) weekend.

Hope y'all have a great week and continue to see God's blessings each day,
Lindsey

Kids, kids, kids!

This winter (Dec. 31st - Jan 7th), we will be heading back down to Mexico to help Rod and Myra Fry with some outreach to their community! The main way we will be doing this is doing activities with kids.

We are really excited about this opportunity and would love for you to go with us, if you are available. These are some of the kids and individuals that we will be serving. Each one of these individuals has a special place in our hearts and we can't wait to see them again in January!

If you have a heart for missions or are just interested in seeing what a mission trip is like, let us know and we'll talk to you more about it. We have more information on: www.bradandlindsey.com/mexico.htm.
