Urbana 2006

Lindsey and I looked forward to spending a week at Urbana in St. Louis, Missouri this past December. We knew we'd both have to work a ton while we were there as there were around 20,000 college students there interested in missions and also seminary (Linds was there representing DTS). However while there we got to see Laura Loftin which was super cool and also got to go up in the arch together for the first time since we got engaged.

It is so surreal to be at an event like that and run into your first cousin that you haven't had a chance to hang out with in a long time. It is very encouraging at the same time to see where Laura is at in life and see the good choices she is making about her future. Linds and I sat and talked afterwards about how we wish we could get to see our cousins more as she barely knows most of mine and vice-versa.

Have you ever been in a location where for some reason it just feels odd to be back there with the people you are with? That is how it felt to be back at the garden that looks up at the arch with Lindsey and think back to how nervous I was the last time we were there when I proposed. To think of how much life can change in four years and to see the impact of one decision is amazing. It can be fun to think about how life would have been different, if you would have made one decision differently 2, 4, 10, 15 years ago. Where would you be today? What would you be doing? These were all thoughts going through my head as I stood with Lindsey at the spot where our lives changed in so many ways. God really is faithful to have guided us to that spot and brought us together. Wow!
