Easter Break

Well, we went to Florida for Easter this year and were joined by the "Minnesota Beebes" -- Lindsey's Aunt, Uncle, and Cousins from up north.

It was a few, chilly days in Florida, but really good to see the family. We spent a few days fishing and the other days hanging out together at the house. Although we would have enjoyed some hot and not windy weather, it was a great time with family and a wonderful getaway from Dallas and school for a few days!

Retreat

Well, I made it back from the retreat Brad was talking about a few weeks ago....and for those of you who were worried---he survived just fine! :) I had a great time that weekend just spending time and learning from women who are serving alongside of their husbands in ministry. It was a true wealth of wisdom to learn from! My good friend Emily Bass (who was our Spiritual Formation leader) came in from Tennessee for the retreat and it was SO GOOD to see her since graduation last year. Amy Turner (another SF gal) was in charge of the whole event, so it was a fun time to be together. The wife of the DTS President spoke at the retreat about Purposeful Expectations, Purposeful Priorities, and Purposeful Connections. She did a really great job and I enjoyed listening to her experiences and her talk. This was the second year that I was on the planning committee for the retreat and I've still got one more year (at least!) while we are here at the seminary. Next year the speaker will be Mrs. Easley (the wife of Moody Bible Institutes's President) so if you are a wife of a man in ministry----let me know and I'd love for you to come join us!!!!

Women's Retreat

I think all newly young married men come to the sobering conclusion, that there are some days when your wife is not in town and you must find ways to survive :) Lindsey is leaving for a Women's Retreat with the seminary tomorrow and will be gone until Tuesday night. I think they are going to all have a great time but I guess it is like when we were dating, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Why is it that the idea of "absence makes the heart grow fonder" is so prevalent in our world? It is actually sort of ironic that for so many things, we live our lives without being grateful until we lose them. I can remember so many times growing up that I would complain to my parents about having to go to baseball practice or soccer practice but now I would give anything to be able to go back and play in just a couple more games. Whenever someone gets injured or sick they tend to want to do anything to just feel well again. But during the time that they were well they really didn't stop and think about how much of a blessing it was to not feel pain.
